Farm Trippin' to Troy !

This past weekend, Shelly and I went camping at Ted and Jan's Organic Vegetable Farm.  Shelly is a member of the Stanton Street CSA and i was her fortunate guest.  We had so much fun! My goodness!  To actually see where your food comes from is such a  beautiful experience.  To meet all the kids who work on the farm and  actually pick your tomatoes... Wow! It gave me such a different perspective.... so much appreciation for all the work that goes into putting fresh, organic, raw vegetables on our plate !
And now being Raw and all - i actually see the importance in knowing where our food comes from.  The Source.  It is a major component to the big picture:  Finding Truth and Connection.  That's what we're all looking for, right?
I am so grateful i had the opportunity to get out of the city with Shelly (and Effie) to experience the lay of the land.  how disconnected one gets with nature when living in this city!!!  Ted and Jan are such beautiful examples of truth, love and generosity!  I plan on joining the Clinton Hill CSA this fall !  Thanks again to Shells for driving almost 10 hours to get us there and back... whew! that's love.

West Side Water Side

Heather and I went Kayaking at 72nd st and the river. at first i didn't want to get my butt wet but once we got on the water, it was fun! a volunteer told us about an evening trip with a group of kayaks around the island.. sounds brilliant.

And we swung by the Science Barge and got a tour from a very cute boy, learning how they use the least amount of natural resources to grow hydroponic plants like basil, strawberries and tomatoes only using natural resources like rain water, sun, wind and all green material! the basil smalled amazing - we were eying it for our tomato basil blend and i think we're going back at the end of October to see if we can get a plant - they give the food away to visitors when they harvest.

necessity breeds invention

Since being on this anti-candida diet I am forever looking for "acceptable" desserts and I invented one that I want to share as it is amazing (as long as you don't overeat it, so like, good luck) . It tastes like Halva.
I don't know measurements but I will tell you a small amount so you don't make too much and then eat it all like I would do.
This makes two "balls" :
2 Tablespoons Tahini
1 Tb Sesame Seeds (optional)
1.5 Tb Yacon
1 tsp vanilla
few drops of stevia (not too much)
1 Tb Maca

Stir up everything except maca and sesame seeds. Then add maca because that allows you to make the the sticky stuff into a ball. You might need more or less maca to do that. Make into two balls and roll in the sesame seeds. It's better if you can refrigerate them for a little while, but you know, I can never wait that long.

Empty Fulfillment

Just wanted to put these photos up as a reminder to myself that: stuffing myself with nasty unGODly food is no fun. my stomach explodes and i am left feeling so uncomfortably full on crap. There's really no need in it. Get comfortable being empty, that's the real fulfillment.

Friday connections

Heather & I got to hang out all day Friday...we worked on some EE stuff, made some serious juice, made a brilliant arugula salad with sundried tomatoes & essential women flax oil dressing and then some late night blends to avoid the munchies!

Then we went to see Concetta DJ in Brooklyn - with her new amazing hair!
she was slamming hotness..

what are some things you can't keep in your house because you will eat too much?

am curious to know if other people share this problem, so please post to this thread!
here are mine:
coconut butter, sunflower seeds, olives, sundried tomatoes in oil, too many avocados, any type of nut butter, any chocolate (although i have had some cacao powder and I don't devour that somehow), too many nuts especially brazil or macadamia, and anything fun and dehydrated like a snack from a raw store. Basically what I can keep SAFELY in my house is : vegetables. Then I won't overeat. Maybe one day this will change.

the power of the group..

wow. i have to say i am in shock. I went to the bronx pool with my peeps here who post on this board and we had a beautiful day. then i had a PURE FOOD ICE CREAM ATTACK. and when i have one of those, look out, nothing gets between me and my Pure ice cream! but something did: shelly walked me through amy's brilliant "core substance" worksheet and then the other girls were totally there with me and were beautiful mirrors - and I am in shock because I don't have a belly full of ice cream right now and I feel SO MUCH GRATITUDE!!!!
